Welcome to the web site of the Midland Centre of the Auto-Cycle Union.

The aim of this site is to provide information about the centre, in the form of details of the Officials and Clubs and to provide details of the events being run in the centre. Via the Events pages, a full list of these events may be viewed, and regulations/entry forms/results downloaded.

To simplify the lot of the event organisers, permit applications can be submitted online via the Permits pages and event insurance spreadsheets may be downloaded from the Event Insurance page.

The Championship pages will provide the up to date situation on the various Midland Centre Championships, along with championship rules and hopefully, in time, a list of previous winners.

To all those interested in the Colmore Cup Trial, 2011 will be its centenary year, the event first being held on 25th February 1911. To celebrate this the club is intending to organise several events during the first part of the year. The events proposed are:-

A stand at Alan Wright’s Classic off-road motor cycle show at Telford on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of February, where machines to represent the decades of the trial will be on display. Information on the various other events to be held will be available. A slide show presentation of the early event will be shown. Other ideas still in the pipeline.

The Colmore Cup Trial in February/March will be in its usual format, but with some extra features, notably a “proper” start venue.

A special centenary dinner, possibly in April, for up to 200 guests.

A “re-visitment” run, probably in June, where an event will be run as per a trial, but with the purpose to visit some of the famous hills and groups of sections used over the years. It is hoped to have some famous ex-winners attempting one or two of the old sections. Competitors from previous years especially welcome. The event will finish with some form of social event in the evening.

A “re-enactment” of the original 1911 run, to be held in July. This will be restricted and by invitation only.

To assist the club in running these events, we are appealing to all officials and riders who have been associated with the event to search their homes for old Colmore paperwork, programmes and especially route cards, and either donate these to the club or allow them to be scanned into a computer for future use. If you have any of these and would be willing to help, please contact the club historian as below (just been self appointed).
